I have found a solution, though it's really more of a work-around. Still, once the game has registered, you should be able to run it from Steam from that point on with no issues. Here's what you do: Go to Download and install Origin. Add your product code from Steam. You will have to either write it down, or keep the pop-up open where you can see it while entering the code, as the entry field does not allow CopyPasta.

Verify the game will now load on Steam. You may want to close the game after it starts, and restart it again, just to make CERTAIN, UNINSTALL Origin. So two questions, for those that had this issue: 1) How many of you tried my suggestion to install Origin, register your key, and then play it on Steam from there? I made a new account and signed in, and it told me to type in the CD Key, because it 'could not activate the game with the EA account provided'.
